Research Paper
It is very easy to mention the different sections of a research paper, with the assumption that everybody knows how the content of the structure of a research paper is arranged. This article seeks to shed more light on the structure of a research paper.
-
Title page
Should have an informative title, name of the author and date of submission
-
Abstract
It is a summary of the entire research. It gives the rationale behind the research, the approach taken, pertinent results, and conclusions. It should not be more than two hundred words.
-
Introduction
It focuses on the significance of the research, the rationale behind the study, gives the thesis statement and introduces the experimental design.
This section of a research paper is significant in demonstrating methods used for data collection and analysis and suitability for every choice made. There is not a specific pages you should write, but it should be clear and detailed.
-
Results
A mistake students make when writing a research paper is writing the results and interpretation together. Only write what is observable from your research, and save the rest for the next chapter.
-
Discussion
The purpose for this chapter is to give an interpretation of your results. The interpretation should be backed by facts.
-
Recommendation
From the result and discussion made, you should be in a position to deduce logical recommendations for the question at hand.
-
The conclusion
More often than not, the researcher uses the conclusion to restate the problem in question, and whether the hypothesis or thesis statement has been adopted, discarded or is waiting further research.
-
Bibliography/ reference
You must always present a list of the sources you use for your research. As long as you do not present sources to verify evidence presented, there is a possibility that a research paper is or will be disqualified.
