Professional Athletes Deserve Increasingly High Salary

Introduction

In the current society, the wages of the professional athletes are all over the media. Americans are not pleased with the annual increasing high wages of these professional athletes given today harsh economy times. An average working person in America can never earn this kind of money their entire life, compared to what the professional athletes are earning annually. Many people believe that professional athletes are only concerned with the flashy life style therefore, does not deserve the increasing high wages which is not true for every athletes. The professional athletes deserves a high salary because they are risking getting hurt, they spend a lot of time doing practice also they follow specific diet provide to them.

Risk of Getting Hurt

            The first reason why professional athletes deserve increasingly high salary is they risk getting hurt. Professional athletes are expected to entertain audience which comes at a cost. These athletes risk injuries like broken bones, knee injuries, and dislocations. The athlete carry on with the game no matter how bad they are injured. Usually athletes are given pain relievers to calm the pain down therefore continue with the game (Pang et al., 2018). Whenever these athletes retire, many of them are not able to afford the expensive medicine anymore which force them to start other careers in order to afford the surgeries. Hence, should be entitled to increasingly high salary.

Time Consumed Practicing

            Secondly, professional athletes deserve increasingly high salary because of the time spent practicing. Each game played by athlete require hard work. Athletes spend most of their time in soccer pitches, gyms, and spinning bicycles. Regular athletes train over 5hours every day (Petushek et al., 2019). This hours may not seem a lot but the extremity of training is too much. For example, a cyclist must train with a heart rate monitor around his chest, he is expected to pedal until his heart rate reaches over 185 beats per minute which he should maintain for over 8 minutes then have a break of two minutes and go back to training again. Thus, professional athletes deserve an increasingly high salary.

Specific Diet Athletes Should Follow

            Another reason why professional athletes deserves increasingly high salary is the specific diet they are expected to follow according to the rules and regulations of the game. There is many beliefs around the internet regarding diet professional athletes should follow. Famous Usain Bolt said he had eaten a bucket of KFC chicken wings before winning the Beijing a hundred meter world record in Olympics. Michael Phelp diet went viral on social media after winning over seven gold medals in a single day, he was believed to have consumed lots of fast food before the games, which no sound mind professional dietician would recommend. Most of the professional athletes are paranoid about the kind of diet they should take because of myths that are circulating all over the internet (UWHealth, 2018).

Conclusion

By risking getting hurt, spending a lot of time practicing, and following specific diets, professional athletes deserves an increasingly high salary for putting their life in danger in order to entertain its audience. Professional athletes risk permanent injuries as they are expected to carry on with games after taking strong pain relievers to numb the pain. No proper checkup is done to the athletes injuries.
