Homework Answer on Threats of Terrorism
What has been the direct impact on both people and our critical infrastructure due to acts of and threats of terrorism in the United States?
Being the oldest form of warfare, terror attacks and threats have negatively affected individuals as well as infrastructure in the United States (US). According to Sauter and Carafano (2011), current engagements in fights with the best army in history makes terror groups well acquainted with skills, which may enable them perform worse attacks in the future. However, terrorism has been well supported by the Internet because the groups have changed their ways to self-equip, self-fund and self-train using the Internet.
They have become more educated and radicalized, which is very harmful to both individuals and infrastructure in the US. September 11 2001 recorded the worst terror attack in the history of the US. Trade amenities as well as other infrastructure in the country were attacked. This had a harmful effect to the public revenue.
Individuals use infrastructure to sustain their daily lives. The DHS infrastructure is most vital because of its economic and physiological impacts. It includes the petroleum industries, nuclear and energy facilities, water systems, transport systems, electric power grids as well as food industry. Approximately 85% of infrastructure in the US is owned by the private sector that lack their own armies, intelligence resources and fortresses unlike the federal government.
