The African-American community comprise a small percentage of the population of the United States, which is approximately fourteen percent of the entire population. African Americans mainly reside in the Southern states of the United States of America. They are also found across major cities in the United States, such as New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Civil rights movements were initiated by amicable leaders at the height of segregation in the American society along ethnic lines.
