Homework Answer on 360 Feedback
360 Feedback, as a method of employee evaluation, has gained popularity in the recent times due to its well-rounded evaluation of employee performance. The evaluation process uses people who work around an employee including managers, colleagues, and direct reports among others, who then provide information about the employee’s work (Beehr et al. 775). This is done anonymously and with total confidentiality. In conducting the evaluation, the participants fill out a form with a broad coverage of workplace competencies about the employee (Beehr et al. 775).
In performing a 360 Feedback evaluation, the idea is to use multiple sources for evaluation of the individual. The purpose of the system is to build profession growth of the employee under evaluation (Mahar and Strobert 148). By relying on the feedback from the employee’s colleagues and individuals who work closely with the employee, the evaluation process correctly links the employee’s feedback with the organization’s goals and initiatives, as well as the individual’s professional career development (Mahar and Strobert 148).
Anonymity should remain one of the most important principles of 360 Feedback. Many of the colleagues may not be comfortable giving feedback on their fellow workers. Anonymity in conducting the process makes it more comfortable for the other employees (Mahar and Strobert150). Additionally, in conducting 360 Feedbacks, it is important to look at the strengths and weaknesses of the individual, and develop ways of making the employee become better.
