Homework Answer on Pentagon and World Trade Center Attacks
The terrorist actions that befell United States of America on September 11 were notable for their large scale, in both human and material resources required to respond to the tragedy and the magnitude of the damage incurred (Bullock & Haddow, 2004). Pentagon and the renowned World Trade Center were attacked by terrorist using passenger planes. The two sites that were attacked and destroyed played vital roles in the American government.
World Trade Center Attack
Two high-rise building fires in the World Trade Center compelled the emergency responders to enter the building in order to help evacuate the people trapped inside. Unfortunately, the two buildings collapsed killing hundreds of emergency responders. Evacuation of persons inside the building was not possible because the building collapsed. A total of 450 responders lost their lives and approximately 320 emergency responders were injured (Bullock & Haddow, 2004).
Among those who died was top Fire Department leader of New York City. This was a great blow to the emergency response team because majority of those killed were among the most experience, highly regarded, and well trained leadership personnel in the emergency response organization. However, back up teams were dispatched from all over the state, including 20 FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Urban Search and Rescue task force.
