The Kite Runner is a historical fiction fused with drama novel that was authored by Khaledi Hosseini. The first publication was made in May 2003 by the Riverhead Books Publishers. The novel became the number one New York Times selling book for two consecutive years. It also inspired the production of a film under the same title in 2007. The book narrates the endurance of a young boy at the midst of upheavals witnessed during the fall of Afghanistan’s Monarchy and the rise of Taliban regime.

The novel accounts of a small boy, Amir, experiences together with his friend Hassan (Tak, 2015).Amir struggles dearly to identify his path in the society due to the aftermaths and fallout from a series of traumatic childhood experiences. In this book, the protagonist is Amir who is born to an affluent and wealthy father, Baba. Hassan is Amir’s close friend and their servant” while Rahim Khan is Baba’s close friend. Hassan is a successful Kite Runner for Amir and does other household chores for the family.According to Noor (2004), Amir is consistently criticized by his father for his weak nature and deficiency in courage despite his interest in writing skills. Five years later, a war breaks in Afghanistan forcing Amir and his father to escape and seek asylum in California.
