Homework Answer on Forces That Drive Change
There are two major forces that drive change in healthcare industry. These forces are the need to cut cost and the need to improve the quality of healthcare services. On one hand, the need to cut cost can affect the industry negatively if not handled in the right way. On the other hand, the need to improve the quality of healthcare services is in the right direction because it mostly affects the industry positively (Graban, 2012).
This notwithstanding, the two forces are influencing the need for change in healthcare management. The need for improving the quality of healthcare services is pushing the organizations in the industry to becoming learning organizations. According to Al-Abri and Al-Hashmi (2007), these types of organizations encourage their employees to be innovative and learn continuously. In relation to this fact, healthcare management teams should work towards improving the way employees approach their duties and the way they view their careers in the industry.
This means that the top management teams in healthcare industry should work towards ensuring that healthcare employees are encouraged to learn continuously and to become both creative and innovative. It also means that there should be continuous research in the industry to improve the quality of services offered. On the other hand, the need to cut costs forces the industry to consider developing an update mindset that can transform the industry at the lowest cost possible (McPhail, 1997).
