Employment plays a crucial role in defining who people are, and gives them some form of identity. It gives people the sense of who they are and that they are contributing to society. Employment creates jobs for people, thus allowing them to pay their bills. Similarly, it gives people the fundamental outlet through which they express themselves to the broader community. Additionally, it defines people’s daily schedule and also shapes their future aspirations. Therefore, the issues that arise in the realm of employment law have a significant impact on the parties involved (Twomey, 2010).
I remember working for a firm that engaged in research and analysis of data for various corporations. The work was very enjoyable and I was very dedicated to my obligations. However, one day, I received a text message from the manager informing me that I had been fired and should not report to work the following day. I did not take the message seriously, as I believed that it was not the right procedure for terminating my employment contract.
When I tried to complain about the issue, the manager had his security team throw me out for no reason at all.
