Part I: Definition and Comparison of Cubism and Fauvism

Pioneered by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso at the beginning of the 20th century, cubism is a collective term for various paintings that were designed in Paris for a decade beginning 1910. Although the lead artists were Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, other artists contributed to the advancement of cubism. Some of them include Juan Gris, Ferdinand Leger, Henri Le Frauconnier, Robert Delaunay, Albert Gleizes, and Jean Metzinger.

Cubism brought a revolution in the European sculpture and paintings, as well as music, architecture, and literature. The art historians perceive cubism as the most powerful art movement of the 20th century. The primary feature of this style is the representation of paintings in three dimensional perspective (3D).
