Homework Answer on increasing costs, lack of access and concerns about quality
Abstract
The health care system in the United States was examined in effective research to identify the major challenges that are currently facing it. Increasing costs, lack of access, and poor quality stood out to the biggest challenges compared with other health care systems in other countries. In addition, the three challenges were interrelated. Most Americans suffered increased costs due to underutilization of preventive care. On the other hand, inaccessibility was as a result of high cost specialized treatments especially for them who suffer from chronic diseases.
Quality was equally a cause for concern since most Americans suffered wrong diagnosis, unnecessary treatments, and unprofessionalism in their treatments. These research findings suggest that there is great need for a reform in the health care sector in the United States. Lack of urgent reform is likely to cause a rapid increase in the number of challenges experienced now.
The health care system in the United States faces a number of challenges, a factor that indicates the imperative need for restructuring. Presently, approximately 46 million Americans are uninsured and many others are facing a rapid increase in their health premiums (Niles, 2010). Despite the efforts by the present government in handling the various health challenges, there is still need for addressing the shortfalls such as increasing costs, lack of access and the concerns about quality.
