Innovations in Healthcare Technology
Information technology is a landmark in improved healthcare which is a positive trend in the healthcare sector. Integrating information in healthcare will help Healing Hands Hospital make a critical decision which can increase efficiency. Electronic Health Records are effective ways of promoting healthcare through interoperability and scalability.
Electronic health records (EHRs) are one of the technologies that have helped in advancing the way hospitals handle information and result in efficiency (Coorevits, et al., 2013). EHRs helps in establishing a connection between the healthcare and the patient hence ease in the processing of information wherever the patient is accessing healthcare. For example, it is possible for Healing Hand Hospital to engage the EHRs in data analytics to help in the processing the information the patient submits during the treatment process. According to Khennou, Khamlichi, & Chaoui (2018) technology has given an insight in data processing using the EHR since they can hold large information at a time hence efficiency in administering the services. Thus, with technology., it is very easy to handle and process large sizes of data efficiently with reduced costs and time wasting.
Secondly, clinical decision support (CDS) helps in improving the quality of healthcare by minimizing the errors in the data processing. For example, some of the critical operations executed by the CDS includes pinpointing some of the health conditions as designated by the records in EHRs, analyzing the drug formulas, executing dosing calculations, among others. An example of the tool is the physician order entry which is a computerized system to present information based on the decision by the physicians. The information from the systems can help in guiding the physician on the quality of the healthcare the patient receives through close analysis on a similar case. Thus, there is a comprehensive approach for the physician to get information of a similar case and the possible best remedies to such a case hence increasing efficiency.
Additionally, there is increased interoperability and scalability in the health care system whereby Healing Hands Hospital can greatly benefit. Khan et al. (2016) discusses the increased complexity of data and hence to establish effective ways to analyze the information for the sake of the shareholders. Interoperability helps in adhering to the complex way of analyzing information by developing systems to link the systems together. For example, it is easy to connect EHRs and the CDS and process information efficiently for effective services to the patients.
Additionally, technology lays a foundation for handling large data by establishing different approaches to utilize growing information. Patients increase every day hence increased data thus need to find ways to handle the growing information for data management. The hospital will benefit from scalability by increasing storage and memory of the systems through cloud computing. Also, it is easy for patients to access information at their convenience without necessarily visiting the hospital. Through technology, it is easy for a physician to keep track of the performance of the patient by monitoring how they take their medicine. Therefore, Healing Hands Hospital will get a chance to utilize technology in increasing the services the patients receive.
In conclusion, technology has secured a strategic place in healthcare where there are increased efficiency and the services the patients receive. Hence, the hospital will enjoy quality services which also is cost-effective. Efficient information processing is critical in healthcare since it helps in eliminating errors that contribute to low-quality healthcare.
