The Minnesotan and the Midwesterner
A Minnesotan is a person raised in Minnesota. Minnesotans are usually considerate and reserved. They are also believed to be good and friendly people who portray good character traits. They have a tendency towards understatement, emotional restraint, aversion to confrontation and self-depreciation. However, they not acknowledge personal change.
A Midwesterner is an individual who comes from the northern central part of the United States of America. Like Midwesterners exhibit traits similar to those of Minnesotans. Midwesterners are believed to be super friendly and always willing to help others out and that is the reason why international tourists find them charming. Midwesterners have the most state pride and believe that their state is the best. They are also very kind even to their cars. They spend a lot to create parking spaces for their expensive cars. It might not be the most efficient or sustainable mode of transportation but their dedication to their cars is admirable.
Midwesterners and Minnesotan are believed to be very nice people. However, I think they pretend just to keep up appearances, maintaining their social order and trying always to keep people in their place. Midwesterners are considered to be very thrifty people who hardly spend money buying meals. This could the reason why I believe they are just pretenders. Besides, they have pride for their own state which could mean that they are racists and selfish people. However, the spirit of helping lies on personal attitude of an individual and not the whole population within a given state. Judging based on generalization can be misleading as some Midwesterners’’ behaviors may be different from that of the general population.
