The cryosphere is the frozen portion of the system of the earth and often interacts with the earth system. Cryosphere is a greed word meaning “cold.” It is observed mainly in the Beauport Sea, which is located in the northern part of Alaska (Gardaud 76). It is normal to observe when one part of the cryosphere is primarily ice based in water. The section is composed of the frozen regions of the ocean same as the water bodies that often surround either the Arctic or the Antarctica regions. According to Gardaud (76), the cryosphere is observed mainly in extremely cold regions, especially where water is frozen to a solid state (76). Cryosphere’s components play a critical role in the atmosphere’s climatic conditions. For example, Bamber et al (254), state that ice and snow help in reflecting heat, thus regulating the planet’s temperature.
The cryosphere is experienced in the high latitudes specifically in the northern hemisphere, which is often sensitive to warming than the ones in other parts across the globe. The situation is caused by both the global and the seasonal variability of the levels of temperature, as well as the configuration of the atmosphere in the middle. It is essential to note that the snow and ice are critical portions of the global climate system. Consequently, they act as highly reflective blankets in determining the occurrence of the cryosphere, which plays a critical role in protecting other parts from getting too warm.
It is either the presence or the absence of both the aspects of snow or ice that affects the ways through which both heat and cooling effects are experienced on the surface of the earth. The effect plays a critical role in enhancing how the planet’s energy balance is realized. Consequently, the northern hemisphere is more sensitive to the warming effects as compared to the rest of the world because it is located at high altitudes. Due to the positioning, the temperatures in the region are incredibly cool as compared to the earth system that interacts with the cryosphere at close range. Consequently, when the warming effects occur even at the slightest degree, then the regions are highly likely to react to the prevailing weather conditions in those specific areas. As a result, the temperatures in the high altitude areas, especially the northern hemisphere, often react to the slightest degree of warming effects. This is because the regions’ temperatures remain cool throughout the year.
The existence of cryosphere is essential to the rest of the world because of two primary reasons. One, the process results in either the presence or the absence of both the snow and ice. The existence of these two aspects has the vital role of affecting the degree to which either heating or the cooling effects influence the living organisms that are found on the surface of the earth. The condition is critical in determining the operations of the living organisms at any given time across the various parts of the globe (Bamber et al. 256). Secondly, the existence of cryosphere is equally critical as it greatly influences and affects how the planet’s energy is balanced. Proper mechanisms that regulate the energy balance of the entire planet are crucial in supporting the lives of the organisms found within the earth’s system. The resultant effect determines the affected organisms’ existence.
