Significance of Art Works
Amor Vincit Omnia
This artwork term means ‘love conquers all’ and a painting was crafted in Italy. This work reflects the roman cupid that wears dark eagle wings and illustrates Virgil’s Eclogues X.69. This artwork is vital because it represents remarkable realism of love. The image also signifies coded attachments and reference to Marchese of Genoese family. The picture identifies itself with cupid a charming and highly individual found on street. The picture also plays a significant role of uniting the real and allegorical. This gives sense and depicts a child who is having a nice time dressing with wings and arrows in a painted image.
Allegory of spring
This artwork is referred to as Primavera. The image is interpreted to be realm of Venus sung by Poliziano and ancient poets. In the picture, Flora is converted into spring that represents an elegant woman who scatters floors in the world. In the middle of the portrait, Venus reflects the Humanitas that protects men in society. On the left, three Graces represent mercury and dance dissipates clouds (Bruce 113). The painting exhibits a refined work of art with naturalistic details that entails different types of floors. In the picture, the color is applied skillfully to exhibit elegance of figures and its poetry. Its significance is depicted in the fascinating work of the image celebrated across the world.
Art Works Contrasts and Stylistic Analysis
The key stylistic characteristics that relate with artists of both paintings are that they apply theatrical settings in their images. Their artworks incorporate natural features that describe the characters. Additionally, both backgrounds reflect a decorative locale that brings the main subjects clearly into focus. The artists achieve this by painting the contrast color of the background dark to enhance an authentic view of the characters. Another stylistic characteristic used by both artists is evident in dynamic compositions of the pictures. Through this, the artists ensured that they used figures to enhance energy that captures attention of audience by reflecting a perfection of their art works.
Comparing the two images, it is evident that the artists adopted two values, which are dark and light to bring out the dynamic compositions and to enhance variation. The light versus shadow contrasts applied in the two images creates dramatic scenery that gave rise to a tremendous composition. Furthermore, the dynamic composition in the two pictures designed to create interests among viewers via a subject that is clearly exposed. Elements that contributed to a dynamic composition in this work of arts include size, shape, color and gradation of value (Kubrick 74). In the two pictures, the components play a highly vital function of enhancing visual movement.
Tenebrism in painting is a stylistic characteristic that depict dramatic illumination. It is originates from Italy and incorporates violent contrasts of dark and light. The two artists in their pictures whereby darkness play a dominating feature role portray a good example. This color contrast in the images is effective because it develops and adds drama to them. However, comparing the two pictures, it is evident that during the Baroque period of painting, artist applied the spotlight effect to create the difference. Caravaggio who revealed his outstanding skills while exploring tenebrism invented this style.
Cultural Analysis and Significance
Based on the cultural context, three key characteristics relate to these artworks. For instance, the two images depict classic cultures when they dramatize the continuity of western tradition. They incorporate objects, monuments, ideas and cultural artifacts, which are part of the imagery. As a result, classical culture has survived and contributed to influence in artwork. The significance of classical cultures in art is that they depict realities in world of Greco- Roman. Additionally, this concept leads to reinterpretation of old values aesthetic models and ideas that apply in the contemporary art world.
Intellectualism relates to artwork when it connects artists and the logics they apply to create paintings. In this context, individuals with artistic integrity and raw intellectual influence have the capability to create an image that exhibit convincing ideas (Bruce 84). Intellectualism portrayed in the two pictures creates a new reality. This implies that in the artworks, artists figured out techniques to enhance aesthetic values that attract the audience’s attention. The significance of intellectualism in cultural context is that it depicts the true meaning of art. In return, this facilitates cognitive function that motivates us in life. The new philosophical are also traits that relate to artwork. For instance, aesthetics is a modern philosophy that attributes to taste, art and beauty.
In cultural context, scholars define it as a critical perception of customs, art and nature. For instance, aesthetic as a philosophy entails a set of values that reflect work of an artist. The new philosophy of art influenced the artists when it addressed a wide spectrum of theoretical matters. These issues arose from a wide variety of objects that created attention. The new philosophical cultural characteristics incorporate themes that depict events of artists in society. They revolve around the aesthetic value that articulates on need to have a direct experience with artwork. Philosophically, themes interpret art via its techniques and the tools applied to depict exercises such as imagination. Through new philosophy, we get to know about the cognitive value of art. This influence artist when they gain value of their works to enhance or advance in skills concerning an understanding of an event. In this case, conceptual art is perceived to have a cognitive value hence it rewards via knowledge that it renders to artists (Hurley 166).
Thematically, there is a significant connection between the two forms of artwork. The two pictures are characterized with main subject that is an angel cupid. Additionally, both paintings have strong contrast that differentiates the light from dark colors. This is evident when both artists apply dark colors on the background and lighter one to the object to enhance clear view of the images. The significance of artwork is clear when it reflects cultural, social and political issues through its values that influence events in society. Comparing and contrasting the two forms of art, we learn that art is not about decoration. It adds value in our life through its stylistic and cultural content that increase knowledge in an interesting and insightful manner.
