Sample Essay on Collaborative Problem Solving Statement

Collaborative Problem Solving Statement

Describe the challenging situation you selected and explain how the use of collaboration will support student success and further your professional development.

A challenging situation is a class argument that results to inflammatory comments or use of inappropriate language towards other students. This type of situation can disturb the required safe learning environment for all the students (Furlong and Lawn, 2010). By using collaboration to solve this kind of challenge, students will benefit from several stakeholders whose mutual goals are to assist in their learning experience. The success of the students will also depend on a shared responsibility in participation and decision making which is likely to produce more desirable results. Stakeholders involved in collaboration will also share the accountability for outcomes; hence they will utilize their time and resources properly to ensure the success of the students (Flecha, 2015). Collaboration enhances trust in professionals since one can rely on the ideas and help of others. It also improves interpersonal relationships of an individual with others in the same profession or other community stakeholders (Flecha, 2015).

Identify the stakeholders with whom you will be collaborating for this project, and explain why you selected those individuals.

The stakeholders collaborating in this project are the students undergoing the learning process, their parents, the school principal as well as community leaders. The students help in gathering information and answering some research questions in the project. The school principal provides guidance and advice on the activities that are undertaken in the course of the project activities as well as authorize some. The parents and community leaders are important in giving their insights, ideas and probable solutions to this challenging situation (Rivard, Deslandes and Beaudoin, 2012).

Present the problem statement you constructed collaboratively with others.

It states that; class arguments that result to use of inappropriate language or inflammatory remarks towards other students has been a problem affecting the learning process in the classroom for the longest time possible. Teachers and students alike are being faced with a complicated issue in their desire to have a safe teaching and learning environment respectively. Several ways have been proposed to help eliminate this challenge such introduction of rules and regulations by school administration that are to be followed by the students, introduction and adoption of helpful learning methods for the teachers, counseling and instilling the right values to children by the parents and community leaders as well as peer guidance among the students (Rivard, Deslandes and Beaudoin, 2012). Class arguments are a major challenge for proper learning process. All stakeholders involved should come together to ensure it is appropriately handled and eliminated.

Explain how this statement changed from the initial problem statement you had created.

The problem statement changes from the previous one since it included all the stakeholders who are involved in coming up with the collaborative statement and recognizes the inputs that are achieved from each one of them.

Include information you received from the family and describe how their input contributed to the construction of a problem statement.

The family provided information on the kind of values they instill in their children, the temperament nature of each one of their children as well as the discipline methods they use in correcting their children mistakes.  They also laid out the kind of expectations they have for their children while in school such as to be physically safe and have a conducive learning environment (Origins, 2012).

Share any insights you gained about the problem/challenge, professional development opportunities that may come from this problem/challenge, and/or insights about this step of the problem-solving process.

In professional development the collaborative problem statement for the challenge helps one to develop better communication skills, be able to define issues and identify interests of others (Flecha, 2015). The problem solving process is significant because it assists in identification of more possible solutions than those originally considered, helps in coming up with fair agreements that meet the needs of more people and creates greater satisfaction for more parties as well as forming a foundation for future problem solving (Flecha, 20
