I am a not a member of any team as I lack the experience. Thus, I cannot name neither the most effective nor ineffective teams. I can however discuss the diverse characteristics of effective teams in order to differentiate them from ineffective teams. The characteristics o effective teams involve the following traits. Foremost, the team members maintain a tension-free atmosphere, as they are considerate and enjoy working together without unhealthy and aggressive competition.
The teams also encourage participation among members on various topics and issues without sidetracking about the task. Team members also maintain a clear acknowledgement and understanding of the teams’ objectives in order to reduce conflicts. Consequently, team members are able to listen well while indicating interest on ideas and comments provided during meetings. This encourages comfortable and constructive disagreements in the teams in order to grow and develop.
The ineffective teams lack the characteristics discussed above as they avoid discussions, failing to resolve underlying issues as the team leaders often practice total control or ‘status quo’.
Holding a meeting with at least five members of the team can be challenging, especially if a team player is not a good listener. As a result, the following ground rules have been established to ensure that meetings are productive.
