In an education context, one-to-one computing (1:1) refers to a program whereby academic institutions like colleges and schools issue registered students with electronic devices to enable them to have access to the internet, digital textbooks, and computerized course materials. The program aims at having one laptop per child to increase its efficiency, and the technology concept has existed since the 1990s. Benefits associated with one-to-one computing include simple networking, equal access, easy upgrades, online student monitoring, and standardization have contributed to a wide use of the program across the world.
The paper will discuss one-on-one computing application in the education system, and offer personal opinion on the technology.Use of one-to-one computing improves the academic achievement of learners because students are more motivated compared to those learning in traditional classrooms.
