Majority of 18-24 year olds rely on such entertainment news sources such as Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel or the Daily Show as their primary source of news and information. This implies that such youth are not exposed to current news that informs individuals about what is taking place globally. This is because such entertainment sources focus on traditional issues or issues that have already taken place. Secondly, such sources of entertainment are usually shallow because they only focus on specific issues and as a result, youths cannot get enough information as compared to if they would watch other sources of information.
News from such entertainment sources is comedy meaning that one will be left behind in other matters like politics, religion, current affairs among others.My selected cultural topic is same sex marriage. This is a marriage between individuals of the same gender. There are various differences in the manner in which the issue of gay marriage is handled in entertainment media like Daily show and in international or national news. For instance, the entertainment media argues that same-sex marriage is legal (Coren 1).
In other words, it supports the legalization of gay marriage. The issue of same sex marriage is highly discussed in the US. One of the similarities in both entertainment sources is that they use photographs of individuals who are gays to clarify their news. Moreover, the arguments raised when presenting news about same-sex marriage are based on court rulings that have been taking place.CNN represents the issue of same sex marriage in a manner that it supports the issue.
