Jessey Pomeroy was considered by many as one of the youngest person to be convicted of murder during his time. Pomeroy started his wild behavior when he was only eleven years. He was responsible for taking and trapping seven children in a hidden spot, where he used to strip, tie, and torture them (Calin, 2011). Pomeroy used a knife and pins to poke into their flesh. When he was caught, he was taken to a reform school where he stayed until his behavior improved. When he was released, his behavior changed from bad to worse. He was responsible for kidnapping and killing a ten-year-old girl (Calin, 2011).
Pomery started his criminal acts when he was only eleven years old (Calin, 2011). He liked to see others suffer, and this is what led him to strip and torture other children. Another important aspect of his delinquency is the method he used to torture his subjects. Pomery used pins and knives to poke their flesh. Stripping them is seen as a way of humiliating them (Calin, 2011).
One of the ideal psychological theories that can be used to explain this case is the psychoanalytic theories (Bartol & Bartol, 2005). The theories explain connections between a person’s behavior and personality. The concept of psychoanalysis is the basis for the psychoanalytic theory (Barlow & Durrand, 2006). Traumatizing events that a person experiences during his childhood can change to become catalysts for delinquency and criminality. According to the Psychoanalytic theory, the juvenile delinquents and the adult criminals are people that have not sufficiently developed egos and superegos (Barlow & Durrand, 2006).
