Homework Answer on The Conflict of Starbucks and the Red Cups
On November 5th 2015, Joshua Feuerstein posted a clip on social media suggesting that Starbucks’ latest cultural and political correctness is a war on Christmas as the company did not decorate its red cups with its traditional holiday graphics. With a market capitalization estimated to be over $90 billion dollars, Starbucks is considered as one of major players in the beverage industry.
The company serves millions of customers not just in the United States but oversees hence an active player in political and cultural correctness campaigns that allow it to attract more clients without casting a shadow of segregation either by religion, politics, gender or any other form of division. The company’s branding and creative team decided to tone down on a long living tradition of decorating its coffee cups with multiple colors and animation for a festive feeling and for 2015 went a plain red cup.
As Joshua Feuerstein explained this was a clear attack on Christmas starting as conflict with several America’s socially conventional Christians. For years, the American culture has been under constant change of political and cultural correctness. This has been placed based on embracing diversification of the different culture in the country, however this rather noble gesture can be used to extents to which are beyond reason and in the end a group of individuals may be seen as spiteful or uncultured altogether. This paper gives a description of “The Conflict of Starbucks and the Red Cups” and how they dealt with the issue.
