Effective communication is the “interactive process whereby people seek to induce some form of change in attitude, belief, or behavior” (Moore 5).It is the main avenue through which people send or receive messages through predetermined codes. Effective communication in a business environment is crucial because it helps to get feedback from different entities. A breakdown in communication in a business environment can have major consequences on a business.
For instance, not listening carefully to customers, employers, clients and employees can mean the difference between the failure and success of a business.I experienced effective communication in a business environment through the feedback of customers and clients during my internship. The customers could use various means and communications channels including nonverbal cues to get back to the company concerning the services and products.
The satisfaction and responses of the customers, clients and other employees was an indication of effective communication within the organization. The high rate of customer and employee retention and loyalty despite the competitive nature of the service sector were indications of good communication. The warm responses from the customers about the products made me to perceive my methods of communication and those of my colleagues to be sufficient.
