Homework Answer on Phases of the System Life Cycle
System Life Cycle commonly referred to as SDLC involves steps, processes, or stages required for the completion of a project. These processes may include; problem identification, design, analysis, testing, and implementation aimed at producing deliverables that meets user needs or customer expectation (Morris, 2009). The phase of choice is known as system analysis, which is considered the second stage in the process of developing a new stage.
This phase has been chosen technically, as each stage of system life cycle requires analysis. For example, system-planning stage requires the analysis of information aimed at developing a fresh product. Similarly, the maintenance stage requires the analysis and system evaluation to ensure that the newly built system constantly meets its expectations.System analysis is defined as the process of gathering factual information, problem identification and provision of feasible recommendations needed to fulfill end user or customer requirements (NIOS, n.d).
This stage normally comes after a problem has been identified and defined. It is concerned with studying business processes, understanding data flow and any possible problems that a system may have (NIOS, n.d). All these processes are aimed at meeting organizational goals. As such, it defines what, how, when, who and why something is being done. For example, in the process of coming up with a new system for improving safety in the airport, system analysis would define parties responsible for developing the project, time required, improvements that may be needed and any challenges that may arise.
