- Discuss how human factor can affect aircraft maintenance if you were to be an Aircraft Maintenance Technician(AMT).
- How would it affect your performance at work during stressful times? Pick one stress option (Fatigue) as you wish and discuss it.
Homework Answer on Fatigue in Aircraft Maintenance
Human factors are listed as the foremost cause to a larger percentage of airplane accidents. While they engage in flight operations, human error is the primary concern with regards to maintenance and air traffic control.Maintenance personnel face a set of human factors of a kind in their work that can bar them from doing their best. The technicians practice in a hazardous environment which is, sometimes, done in heights, in restricted spaces, in a cold and numbing or in hot places.
The conditions make the work to be more strenuous thus the technicians spend more time in planning than they do in execution. Documentation in aircraft maintenance is essential. Therefore, the engineers have to give it a proper detail as they can with doing the actual work.Due to this intense work, the maintenance technicians are bound to experience burnouts. This will significantly affect the communication process and their coordination when it couples with high noise levels and thus becoming more stressful.
This will affect my concentration at work and slow my pace thus my output will decline at that moment.Again, the maintenance personnel has to work fast and efficiently to meet the pressure mounted on them with regards to the limited set timelines. When experiencing burnouts, it will be difficult to have the work completed in time. This will lead to inefficiency in carrying out the assigned work and, in turn, result to an accident.
