Homework Answer on Crew Resource Management
The concept of crew resource management (CRM) was coined by National Space Agency NASA with focus on improving the safety of everyone aboard a flight. CRM teaching incorporates an eclectic assortment of understanding that detail skills such as being able to communicate effectively, creating awareness on situations, make decisions, solve problems, and making a team; together with all the sub-disciplines which each of these areas entails.
Experts have ascertained that this concept carries a lot of weight by considering the cognitive and interpersonal skills of an individual that makes it possible to manage flight disqualifying the notion that technical skills and knowledge are the only requirements to fly an aircraft. Therefore, it has been established that aviation regulatory bodies have declared CRM training compulsory for pilots flying commercial aircrafts (Kanki et al 8).
My experience is drawn from the case of the 2009 accident of Boeing 1951 that involved Turkish airline. It was proven, after investigation, that the Boeing 1951 flight which was from Turkey to Netherlands crashed just when it was about to reach the landing strip. According to the investigations carried out by Joseph Sedor of National Transport Safety Board (NTSB), a malfunctioning altimeter may have led the flight control system to command a reduction in thrust, as well as a significant drop in airspeed and altitude, during final approach.
