Homework Answer on Robert Adams
He was born in New Jersey, in 1937. He graduated with a BA from the University of California and later attained PhD in English from the University of Southern California. The media he used in his work is black/white photographs that documented sights of West America. The photographic artwork is “Abandoned windbreak, West of Fontana, California.” The subject of the work was the effects of human activity on open space.
This work was chosen and made to capture the traces of human life, showing a clear-cut forest and a house half-built. The work was informed by the hollowness that existed in the 19th century. It describes the unlimited natural resources for human use that existed in the West after human activity; it is indicated that from the photographs, a landscape transformed can be seen. Based on my personal experience, this work shows that in spite of the environmental degradation, a change can restore the natural resources.
Laylah Ali
She was born in New York, in 1968. She acquired a BA from Williams College and later achieved an MFA from Washington University. The mediums she employed in her works were small figurative paintings on paper. The artwork “The Greenheads Series” focused on the physical aggressive exchanges in small groups and represented uncomfortable traces of mistrust and conflicts coming out of social interactions (Art 21).
