There are mainly two types of topologies namely logical topology and physical topology. The selection of the type of topology will also affect the type of control system to be adopted for the application. In most instances, the use of physical topology is preferred for local usage while logical topology can be assumed for both local use and global use. In addition, the application to be adopted for global use should involve the use of serial connection that will allow for the multi-connection of a number of systems at the same time.

Finally, an aspect that should be distinctively adopted is the speed of navigation. The intended navigation speed for the application should be implemented in accordance with the size of the region to serve. A higher navigation speed should be selected for global applications unlike that for local applications that will not demand a very high navigation speed owing to the relatively low number of the users.
