They handle very multifaceted tasks with strategic importance. However, they rarely meet face-to-face and often rely on communications technology in almost all their interactions and decision-making.

            Virtual teams involve different cultures that have positive results on collective decision making in organizations. Cultural diversity laced with collaborative conflict management often catalyzes active participation in collective decision-making (Parke, Campbell & Bartol, 2014). Nevertheless, mashups are major contributors to the advancement of social software, a foundation of social media communications (He & Zha, 2014). Mashups provide data converters such as language translators, and speech processing, information visualization and secure identification, making it preferable for social media applications (He & Zha, 2014). For instance, its integration feature enables social media end users to produce a mashup map from addresses and photographs from different locations especially for organizations.

                Tagging is the process of assigning non-hierarchical terms to some information such as bookmarks or digital image or a computer file on the websites (Boughzala & Dudezert, 2012). Tagged piece of information often enables end users to access, repeatedly, any tagged information upon searching or browsing.

                Organizations use tagging for purposes of sorting information, designing ownership, and affirming online their identity (Boughzala & Dudezert, 2012). Organizations have varied information to pass to its customers and the public, hence tagging enables businesses to categorize this information appropriately. In addition, most organizations use tagging as a means of advancing their web presence through various social media platforms.

            A wiki, the software behind the popular Wikipedia, is a web application that permits collaborative modification of content (Boughzala & Dudezert, 2012). The application involves the use of a simplified markup language that enables editing of information in line with the needs of the end users. A wiki is a form of knowledge management system that offers organizations a chance to welcome the ideas of their customers regarding product and service information. The customers are capable of correcting any piece of information that they may deem inaccurate as opposed to the fixed information system such as blogging. A wiki is a vital tool for organizations, which wish to engage the public in their activities and perspectives on the content they put on their websites.


            Virtual groups, mashups, tagging, and wiki are crucial aspects of the modern technological advancements (Boughzala & Dudezert, 2012). They have significant impacts on the economic and social platforms that organizations, which have employed information technology, utilize to survive in the competitive world.
