Combating Terrorism

Question 1:

The implementation of rehabilitation for terrorists faces various challenges, including increased influence and conservative minds of the terrorists. The United States has made considerable efforts in tackling the escalating radical ideologies of oppression and murder by the different terrorism groups. In order to combat terrorism, the government is required to implement relevant regulations and strategies. First, staffing should be controlled, as it is a major concern in the controlling prison facilities. The overcrowding of prisons forces the officials to spend all resources on maintaining law and order within the prisons. This leaves little or no resources for performing investigations on the various radical cases in the prisons. Radicalization is facilitated by overcrowding and the understaffing of prisons. The situation would facilitate the spread of terrorism agencies, recruitment of inmates, and even the planning of attacks in the prisons. Thus, the Department of Justice should provide adequate staffing to identify radicalization in the prisons. Secondly, there is a need to develop strong religious services in the prisons (Amble, 2012), since the lack of effective monitoring of religious services provides room for the radicalization of individuals to spread their propaganda. For instance, the Federal Bureau of Prisons should increase supervision of inmates by providing genuine Islamic teachings and study guides to the prisoners.

 Question 2:

The government and the media should work together to combat the rising threats of terrorism across the world. The government can defeat the ideology of terrorism by defining their message and what it truly stands for. The U.S should become a role model and leadership across the world; it should state and show a commitment in promoting humane treatment of people, compliance with the rule of law, and human dignity. Friends from both Muslims and American families can agree on supporting human dignity and opportunity for growth. It is clear that the terrorist activities do not offer good vision for the Muslim children. Thus, the U.S government should use the opportunity to educate the Arabs and Muslims on the need to combat terrorism (Maras, 2013). The media should also advocate for unity between Muslim governments and the U.S government. This cooperation would be a long-term strategy in promoting the American interests and stature among Muslim governments. The media, including TV shows and newspapers, should publish reports and ideas supporting the elimination of terrorism across the world. This is since most of the people rely on the media for insights in making personal decisions.

Question 3:

A negotiation between the United States and the terrorists would be another probable way to make peace (Amble, 2012). However, the plan should be implemented in a more formal way through constructive meetings between the representatives from the both sides. The U.S government should also support the development of a new International Youth Opportunity Fund. The funds would be used in constructing schools in the Muslim states, leading to economic openness. Such economic policies and reforms usually have significant political implications towards combating terrorism. It would be relevant to introduce strong religious and education programs. Most importantly, educational and economic opportunities are relevant in creating freedom and literacy among the individuals in Arab countries. Education would provide the children in Muslim countries with adequate skills and knowledge to engage in economically viable activities. Thus, education would promote dignity and the value of people, which would be a major strategy in eliminating Islamic terrorism across the world (Maras, 2013).
